Zalma High School's boys basketball kicks off the 2024-25 season with a young team led by coach Phoenix Neal.

Eight boys are out for the boys’ varsity basketball team, which is led by coach Phoenix Neal.

Players for the 2024-25 season are seniors Nate Borders and Andy Krolak; junior Destin Chamberlain; sophomores Colby Borders, Arikson Jones and Alex Walk; and freshman Eddie Trainor and Dalton Krolak.

Nate Borders, a senior, is the lone returning player.

“He’s been playing a pivotal role on defense for us,” Beal said.

In the early going, the team began practice and then had to shift its focus with a few players leaving the team, noted Beal.

“We had some things happen that we weren’t quite expecting, so we had to battle that the first week. We had to throw around some guys that probably don’t need to play the positions they’re playing, but they’ve really stepped up. They’re doing what I’m asking them to do.”
