The holiday season is upon us — a time filled with twinkling lights, joyful traditions, and the warmth of being with loved ones. This is a special time to cherish the people in our lives, whether family, friends, neighbors, or colleagues. As we gather around festive tables and exchange gifts, let’s take a moment to reflect on the true spirit of this season: connection, gratitude, and goodwill.
Christmas is not all about the presents we give and receive. It is also about taking the time to express our love and appreciation for all those who enrich our lives on a daily basis. It’s also a time to give thanks for the many men and women in our Armed Forces who are serving our nation far away from the comforts of home during the holiday season. Because of their sacrifices, we continue to celebrate the holidays knowing that we are safe and secure here at home.
At the same time, we give thanks for all we have, I also ask us to remember there are many Missourians who are not as fortunate. The holiday season is an opportunity to extend kindness to those we don’t know personally but whose lives we can touch through small acts of generosity. Remembering those who are facing challenges — be it loneliness, hardship, or loss — allows us to embody the best of the holiday spirit. Whether it's sharing a meal, volunteering your time, or offering a kind word, every gesture matters. Together, we can make this season brighter not just for ourselves but for those around us.
For Christians, Christmas is a time to reflect on God’s immense love and to celebrate the birth of Christ. On this holy day, we are reminded that God sent His only Son to bring a message of peace, love, and hope. We also remember that Jesus sacrificed Himself for our sins, offering us the gift of salvation. Christmas calls us to embrace the truth that we are all God’s children, and that true joy and peace come when we place our trust in Him.
From my family to yours, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season. May God bless you all!
Missouri certifies general election results
The Board of State Canvassers has officially certified the results of the November 5, 2024, general election. This certification, overseen by Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft and Judges Jon Beetem and Daniel Green, confirms that 2,995,376 Missourians cast their ballots, representing a 67.56% voter turnout.
Missouri's certification process ensures that all votes are counted accurately. After Election Day, local officials review vote totals and provisional ballots, and the Secretary of State's office verifies the results before final certification. For detailed election results, visit enr.sos.mo.gov.
