Peggy Ann Whaley, 86, of Sedgewickville passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, at the StoneBridge Senior Living Facility in Marble Hill. She was born Oct. 21, 1937, to Clyde and Myrtle Barks Whaley on the family farm in Sedgewickville. She graduated from Patton High School in 1956.
Peggy was an active member of Whitewater Presbyterian Church in Lixville. She worked on the family farm and helped with milking the cows.
She loved to garden, quilt and cook. She canned and grew nearly all her food. Peggy was a 4-H sponsor, and she taught the members how to cook, can and farm. She was also a judge at the SEMO District Fair.
Peggy is survived by her brothers, Donald and Robert “Bob” Whaley; sisters, Mary Barks and Sue Huckstep.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Whaley; and sister, Shelby Reagan.
Visitation and funeral service were held Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Whitewater Presbyterian Church in Lixville. Brother Charles Mangels officiated the service. Burial burial was in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Whitewater Presbyterian Church.
Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
