Voter turnout in Bollinger County for the Nov. 5 general election was 70.81%, according to the county clerk’s office.
A total of 6,196 ballots were cast by the 8,750 registered voters. While there were few contested races — Missouri Governor, Lieutenant Governor, U.S. Senate, State Senate, State Representative and the presidential contest had multiple candidates — the county positions were not in question. County officers re-elected were assessor Ronda Elfrink (5,464 votes), coroner Calvin Troxell (5,473 votes), public administrator Melissa Finley (5,436 votes), District 2 commissioner Chad Hulvey and sheriff Casey Graham. District 1 commissioner Travis Benfield (2,063 votes) is the only newcomer to a county office. He won a three-way Republican primary in August 2024 and was uncontested Nov. 5. Benfield will replace current commissioner Tim Shelby when sworn in at the start of 2025. Six of the county’s 13 elected officials were up for election in 2024. Seven will be up for election in 2026. All 13 of the individuals serving in Bollinger County are Republicans.
Of the county’s eight precincts, the turnout ranged from a low of 49.7% percent in Marble Hill (1,655 out of 3,330) to a high of 71.21% in Drum Dongola (381 of 535). The order, from lowest to highest is as follows:
Marble Hill, 49.7%; Hurricane, 58.93% (307 out of 521); Drum Dongola, 71.21%; Patton, 61.42% (772 out of 1,257); Sedgewickville, 65.9% (665 out of 994); Scopus, 62.16% (432 out of 695); Sitze, 56.67% (306 out of 540); and Zalma, 58.2% (511 out of 878). Absentee, or early voting included 1,177 ballots. This was 18.99% of voters this election (1,177/6,196) and 13.45% (1,177/8,750) of the county’s total electorate.
