On Veterans' Day, Nov. 11, Leopold School held a Veterans Day concert.

Every student from Leopold was able to invite their family members who had served or are currently serving in any US military branch. The gym was filled with excitement, as many veterans attended the concert to be honored. The concert started off with the color guard completing the opening flag ceremony. Then, the kindergarten class showed off their patriotism by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The concert choir sang "The Star Spangled Banner", and then the introductory remarks were made. The fifth and sixth graders sang a beautiful rendition of “Thank You Soldiers", after which senior Taylor Schreckenberg read the poem, “Thank a Vet,” by William A. Predeau.

Next came a special song performed by the seventh and eighth grade music classes. They performed the "Armed Forces Medley", during which the veterans in attendance could stand to be honored while their respective military branch anthems played. Many looked on with happy tears, and all of them stood with pride. First and second grade followed that song with “My Country 'Tis of Thee", and junior Brenna Beussink read “A Soldier's Pledge". The concert choir came back for a second song, singing “Oh America".

To wrap up the concert, senior Lily Cook read off the names of all the veterans that Leopold families sent in to be recognized, and then the third and fourth grades sang “America the Beautiful". The color guard finalized the concert with the closing flag ceremony, and then the veterans present were able to take a picture with the students they were invited by and eat breakfast provided by the school. The concert was beautiful, and the Wildcats were proud to honor all of the veterans in their lives and community.
