Kaitlyn M. Morgan, 23, and facing multiple felony charges in connection with the October 2021 death of Brianna Rogers, entered a guilty plea in Bollinger County Court on Nov. 14.

The crime allegedly occurred near Glen Allen, in rural Bollinger County.

The official charges for Morgan include murder in the first degree, tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution and abandonment of a corpse.

In court documents filed Nov. 14, Morgan wrote the following: “I told Eric Nanney to kill Brianna Rogers.”

In addition to that statement, Morgan also provided two additional statements related to the crime:

“I helped Eric clean up the blood from the knife and then gun used to kill Brianna,” and “I abandoned Brianna’s body without reporting the location to law enforcement officers.”

A prosecutor recommendation in the case reportedly seeks to change the first-degree murder charge to second-degree murder, with up to 30 years' imprisonment, while the second and third felonies should require a four-year prison sentence with all three sentences running concurrently.

Morgan, now being held at the Bollinger County jail in Marble Hill, is represented by Carl D. Kinsky of Ste. Genevieve, while Michael S. Schafer of Jefferson City is the co-counsel. The State’s representation in the case is Stephen P. Gray of Marble Hill and Kelly L. Snyder, a special prosecuting attorney, from St. Louis.

Eric Nanney was convicted of murder and additional felonies by a 12-person jury in Cape Girardeau County Court in late October.

His sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m.

Another individual, Ricky Nanney, faces three charges of tampering with physical evidence. He is being held on a $50,000 bond. He is set to go to a jury trial Feb. 24, 2025.
